Can you guess who the top money-making artist/group was over the past 12 months?  How many in the Top 40 can you get right before looking?  Note how this is a list based upon U.S. revenue only.  Then see if you can figure out what the biggest slice of revenue was for each artist.  Scroll down to read the Methodology, which was actually more interesting than the list itself.  Thanks to Dominick Michele for the heads-up.

A New Model For Music: Big Bands, Big Brands

The headline you want to click on above is a bit misleading: This model isn’t new.  Bands aren’t “selling out” anymore because nobody’s buying, and the bands have known this for the past decade.  Read this, though, to understand the conflict when a Lady Gaga plays a corporate show promoted via social media and then criticizes those using social media at the show.  Read and form your own opinion.  Then share with us.
