“Beautiful World” is a song by Irish boy band Westlife. It was planned to be the lead single from their second compilation album, Greatest Hits but was replaced by the song Lighthouse. The song was written by Ruth-Anne Cunningham, Mark Feehily and John Shanks and was later released as a promotional single on November 17, 2011. It was the group’s last promotional single not under Simon Cowell, having left Syco and Cowell in March. 2011.
The song was chosen as the summer single but the release was canceled for several reasons, giving way to a November release for the first single which was last minute changed to “Lighthouse”. “Lighthouse” was chosen by the record label instead of another new album track, “Beautiful World”. It would be the lead single from their upcoming compilation, but at the last minute they dumped the song for last.
Mark said: “Until a day ago we decided between ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘Beautiful World’ for the first single but they chose ‘Lighthouse’ in the end.”, “It’s one of the most potential songs on the album”, “I’m not broken heart. After I write a song, I have written it. You can’t get too attached and just have to give up and forget about the fact that you wrote it.”
