Music is a way to escape society for many people around the world.  We are all expected to think or even look a certain way, when in reality, we shouldn’t have to.  Music is my way to escape from many things, it gives me that freedom to express my feelings.  It gives me the strength to express myself without thinking about what anyone else thinks.

Music is something that when hit by it, you can become inspired. You want to laugh, cry, party, and overall be a better person. You live in the moment of the song and it takes you to a different place every time.  Everything about music is extraordinary.

I don’t think I could live a day without listening to music.  Over the years, music has given me that boost to help me throughout my day whether I’m happy or sad.  It’s easy for me to have music playing and escape the world for a moment. Sometimes it can even help me say things I’m too afraid to say out loud.

Music can bring back troubling memories and happy memories.  One song can remind you of a breakup, while the other can remind you of the time you went to your first concert and had a great time.  No matter what feeling it brings, music is a way that brings me into my own world, where I can learn more about myself emotionally and take a moment to think about what I want to think about, not what other people are telling me to think about (work, bills, physical appearance, ect).

Since there are so many genres, people can choose the genre they want to listen to based on the mood they’re in.  For example, if I’m happy I might listen to “The Original High” by Adam Lambert or “She’s Kinda Hot” by 5 Seconds of Summer. If I’m feeling low, I might  listen to is “Hold On Till May” by Pierce the Veil.

What many people don’t realize is the social element music can bring into your life.  Just think of all the people you’ve met by listening to the music that you love.

Overall, music has had a tremendous impact on my life.  I still continue to listen to music every day.  No matter where I go, I find a way to listen to music.  Music will always be one of my favorite ways that help me relax, especially after stressful day, or when a need to be cheered up.  It helps me feel better about everything, leave my troubles behind, and enjoy life.

♫ Where Words Fail, Music Speaks ♫

People all over the world listen to music, and to this day it continues to be an important part of many people’s lives.

Here are a few artists I enjoy ♡ | Pierce the Veil, Mayday Parade, Slipknot, Adam Lambert, Melanie Martinez, Pvris, Taylor Swift, 5 Seconds of Summer, Halsey, Sleeping With Sirens, and One Direction.

My name is Melanie Gomez (22) and I’m a print journalism major and music management minor.  I loved music since I was little because it was always a way me and my family bonded, as well as a way to express myself on my own time as I got older.  I’m not a singer and I don’t play an instrument, so I found my way to be a part of the industry by getting to write about the music I love in various reviews and through my concert photography.
