A special Music Biz 101 & More interview with
Eric Van Wagner of Groove U
Eric Van Wagner has dabbled with the entertainment industry for most of his life. Eric started his college career by majoring in music education. Like college courses can do to you, he lost his interest in becoming a teacher and “really wasn’t looking to become a marching band director.” He moved onto performing, where he was a bassist in a band, looking for a record label deal but he realized that wasn’t for him – he enjoyed working with the studio’s engineers and being “behind the console” more than he enjoyed being on stage.
His love for teaching never faltered, and that’s why he is an audio production instructor at Groove U, in Columbus, OH. He enjoys looking at the big picture in ways that can help influence his students in positive ways. Listen in to learn about what Groove U is, why Eric chose the career path that he chose, and what experiences he went through that taught him to be the person he is today – which everyone should give a listen to, especially if they’re unsure of what their future will hold.
